Hi All , another "long in the tooth" spotter ! My first show was Farnborough 1959 so been around a while !! Not local in any way now days as I reside in not so aviation friendly Devon . By that I mean there is not a lot going on down this way , hence at least monthly trips to LHR . FAB traffic often seen from LHR visitors centre (?) So need to tie them up . I predate the Court Line bright colours . It was Autair in my early days and one could walk about most airfields quite freely then . Pity it has changed . Good times to All . Chrisj

Hi Chris,
" Not local in any way now days as I reside in not so aviation friendly Devon . By that I mean there is not a lot going on down this way ..... "
hah, you should try it this side of the river, cornwall is like an aviation black hole, apart from newquay which is difficult for photographs, coming from the land of the plenty ( Farnborough / LHR etc ) to this, it's like hmph where is everybody ?
oh well, at least i've got the isle of scilly skybus to look forward to tonight (not)
Cheers

Just to introduce myself, I'm a 60+ year old HGV1 driver from Coventry, UK - been a 'spotter' since July 1973 but stopped writing down registrations early in the 2000s when I realised I'd collected nearly 750,000 -- it was taking nearly all year to update the numerous books that needed underlining!!! So I went along the digital photography route whereby I try and photograph every aircraft I see.
Have been to FAB on many occasions and enjoy the assistance offered by the locals - especially those up on the bridge - with a special mention to Ken Lipscombe for his help.
My local of CVT has yet again gone downhill so I spend a lot of my freetime at BHX - usually on the Multi-Storey Car Park on the Elmdon Side, so if anyone is intending to visit....
Well thanks for letting me join, will try and contribute as and when I can,
Regard, Dave L -- also known as Coptercrazy

Just a line or two to introduce myself. My name is Ray Lancaster, aka, shuttleman. My local airport is Manchester which is about 18 miles by road north of me. Not too far away is Arclid Green, a microlight field. My main interest is registrations. I like visiting small airfields as well as the larger aerodromes.

Hi Been lurking for a while but finally got round to registering. My name is Paul and have been doing this aviation thing for some 50 years now.I live in Wokingham and tend to be a frequent visitor to Farnborough, Blackbushe and Heathrow. However, my interests are just about anything that flies and so I can be found anywhere that has an aeroplane. My major passion is photography and I can be found on flickr at www.flickr.com/photos/wokinghampaul/. I grew up in Hertfordshire, basically under the Hatfield flightpath. My father worked there, first for DeHavilland, then Hawker Siddeley and finally British Aerospace. I moved to Luton in the late 70's so have many photos from there up to the mid 80's when I moved to Berkshire. I have managed some foreign trips, but mainly it's been a case of grabbing some shots whilst I have been on family holidays. Lucky enough to get a few hours at Nellis AFB in September 2017 but I have a family who hate aviation (unless it's taking them on holiday) so it's very much a case of grabbing what I can, when I can and where I can. So, if you see a chap in a black Focus roaring into Eelmoor it'll be me with a couple of hours freedom from family duties and making the most of it! Paul

Hi Paul
Great to have you onboard.
Your movements around the southeast are similar to my own. That said, mine started in Hatfield when I went to uni there in the late 80s, before settling on the Herts / Beds border. I then moved to Surrey in the mid-2000s.
Incidentally, I'm liking your photos on Flickr.
Please feel free to post them and any other logs / info. whenever you can.
Regards
Andy

Hi All,
Just checking-in, I'm Seb Wheeler, 16, from the south of england (all around due to military parents!) I have been "based" at various military fields, and will hopefully be heading back to EGVP for a few years this august. I have a bit of an obsession for farnborough, particularly on the ATC side, and thought I may as well sign up here to see what goes on when I'm away! I'm more of a computer based spotter, with a particular interest for the blocked a/c on FR24! May see some people if i'm ever around, or might spot you from the VCR! I'll post when I'm next at the tower and will be able to nick some info on flights for you!

Afternoon all, my names Dave, I live between BBS and Sandhurst. After meeting Ken at my usual Sunday morning visit to FAB he put me on to this great group. Thanks to all who post the wealth of info. My main passion is photography of anything that flies, after the GA season ended I got back into the biz jets and I’m hooked. I can be found on Instagram, FB and I contribute to Ronald Barkers airport-data site. Look forward to meeting more of you and to sharing our knowledge of all things Aviation.

A warm welcome to members new, old and guests.
I hope you're enjoying the forum. And remember, it's yours. The more info contributed the more useful it'll be to all.
As Roy Walker used to say on Catchphrase, 'say what you see'.
Best wishes.
Andy

Greetings to you all,
My name is Malcolm Toghill and I also live in Knaphill (Goldsworth Park) 66 and retired. Plenty of free time now to go spotting. I have had an interest in spotting since a day in July 1964 when I flew to Jersey in a BEA Viscount, in 1967 I began working at Fairoaks with Jack Brabham and his Fairoaks Aircraft Maintenance Company run by Roy Coburn, and afterwards with Mann Aviation run by Jock Graham. My mother worked at Fairoaks during the war putting steel keels in Blenheims and working on Beauforts and my son has also worked at Fairoaks. I wish you all well, good spotting and maybe we will meet, probably at Fairoaks, I'll be the one with camera, binoculars and bald head!!

Hi Folks,
I am Mike Reed, a Farnborough resident and spotter since 1967. Now retired, I worked in the aviation industry for Airclaims, later Ascend and Flightglobal, based at Heathrow, initially at Epsom Square near the maintenance hangars and later on Newall Road. Needless to say, this helped with the log no end! I am interested in (mainly) civil airliners, business types and military, to a lesser extent GA, and pop up to Eelmoor occasionally to see what is in. Also interested in ships, being a member of the Thames Ship Society, hovercraft and steam locos. I subscribe to LAAS and Aerodata, to which I am very slowly adding my 50,000 aircraft sightings.
Thanks,
Mike
