Omni 737 arrived at Fairford this morning, presumably dropping off the ground crew.
I would imagine the 52s will arrive in the next couple of days, possibly b1s as well...

The civilian cargo traffic continued over the Bank Holiday weekend (Kalitta and Atlas) from Barksdale and Ellsworth. Therefore, I would expect B-52s and B-1s to arrive towards the end of this week, in preparation for the start of the exercise.

Rumours of a United Airlines aircraft coming into FFD too, obviously it's a bigger scale exercise this year..

To add to the excitement, a third B-52 arrived at around 09:00 (2/6), in the form of 60-021/LA r "Barksdale".
It seems Donald J is single-handedly trying to create global warming by sending these gas-guzzlers on a jolly 😉

With the number is support flights (C-5 60017 yesterday) and CMB B767 N207AX this morning (4/6), I'm just wondering how many B-1s are due? Of course, if B-2s are deployed, and they are staying for any period of time, their numbers are limited by the number of suitable hangars (two).

5/6/17
60-002 performed the first sortie of the exercise, departing at around 06:20.
After a 9.5-hour mission, it retuned at around 16:00, landing on a mere 7 engines! As a result, there were a few fire trucks in attendance.
I also spoke to a couple of B-1 crew members, whilst waiting for the B-52 to return. They had previously visited Fairford before, taking part in RIAT and Farnborough in 2008. Although they weren't 100% sure, the crew expected their aircraft to turn up on Wednesday. They were a bit sketchy about the number of aircraft involved, although they did suggest that they might fly up to 3-4 missions on some days.
