The 'money' behind the acquisition of ADSB exchange is seemingly via a hedge fund and those kind of investors are always in it to make money, so expect data/services to disappear behind a pay wall and almost certainly expect 'sensitive' biz/military to disappear. This is definitely not good news for the enthusiast community. While I have no problem feeding a number of sites that are commercial from my pi such as FR24/Flightaware/Planefinder/Radarbox etc those sites were always run as commercial entities, with paid staff and although all have restrictions, they all let me see data I'm feeding and give out memberships that allow access to historical data etc.
ADSB exchange on the other hand was always a site run by [in the main] a large unpaid amount of enthusiasts who developed the site and fed the majority of the data, so they feel extremely aggrieved that the site was sold from underneath them [even it was entirely legal to do so] If ADSB exchange start altering what they display, I suspect a lot of feeders will 'pull the plug' and stop feeding. I'm already in the process of formatting a new card for my pi with the adsb exchange feeder removed which will be inserted into the pi if they start blocking aircraft [which I suspect they will]
I note a number if disgruntled ex-developers/feeders have started a mirror site at: globe.adsb.fi
so I think I'll have a look at feeding that sometime soon.

Morning All
Quick question - Does ADSB have a flight history function whereby you can input a registration to get a historical flight routing list?
I know FR24 and Planefinder have this facility and I use it often, but it's not apparent from the ADSB screen set up (well not to me anyway!) whether they do

Not that I know of.
You can select a registration, then use the History function to click sequentially back through the dates, thereby seeing where an aircraft has travelled, but it is rather laborious.
If anyone knows a better way, I would also be keen to know.

Thanks - I didn't even know you could do that either. Better than nothing I guess.
As good as the historical flight routing list functions are for FR24 and Planefinder, it's very frustrating when the no info message come up for 'blocked' aircraft.
A similar function on the relatively 'freer' ADSB and ADSB.fi would be great.
Cheers Tony

Radarbox24 has historical functionality and you can search on reg. / flight number and various other parameters. www.radarbox.com/@51.23077,-0.99681,z7 However, quite a few aircraft are 'blocked', so whilst you'll be able to find the flight history of a particular C152 or an airliner, there may be situations where you may not be able to track a particular bizjet (particularly US ones).

It appears Planefinder is closing its free legacy app and moving to a new, subscription-based model.
After a 3-month free trial they plan to charge £10 per year and then £20 per year fir subsequent years.
Given that I only use the app. for its alert functionality, I'm not sure I'll keep using it, particularly as it rarely displays N- bizjets.
And thankfully, despite its change in ownership, ADSB-Exchange is still going strong as a free-to-use resource. Perhaps they have realised that if they themselves moved to a subscription-based model, many of its 'unfettered, free-to-use' contributors would stop contributing, rendering their product worthless.
