Although I am more of a chopped pork fan, of late, there have been a number of instances of spam from guest posters.
The posters have been banned but they appear to have access to ever changing changing IP addresses, which circumvent the ban.
I am keen for the forum to remain as open as possible to members and guests alike. However, if the volume of spam were to increase, there may be a need to restrict access to the forum.
This could involve: 1) doing nothing but accepting the possibility of spurious, non-aviation, posts 2) restricting posting on the forum to members only 3) restricting access to the forum to members only
The latter has been used by other forums, but I don't believe it is a very welcoming way to generate interest / participation in our crazy (non-New Kids on the Block) interest.
I would welcome you views, so please use the poll to respond.
Regards
Andy

Good morning Andy. I don't get to Farnborough now as often as I'd like to and so find logs and forums a really good thing . Not wanting it spoilt I've voted option 2 As many of us don't post for one reason or the other it's an invaluable tool and always appreciated .
Cheers Eric

Agree with Eric, I meet a lot of good people around the airfield and at the Pegasus events, so it'd be remissive to exclude those who don't visit or post as often.
I personally think we've a great group and community here and making it members only shouldn't be too arduous for anyone to join, other than the spammers :-)
Cheers
Dave

I too have gone for option two and I also agree with the comments within the previous two posts- we don't want to stop casual visitors looking at our excellent site- and if they wish to post, they can always join the forum.

Pretty conclusive thus far.
Nevertheless, I'm more than happy to keep the vote open, to allow for further comment.

Option 2 seems the best way to me. Hopefully then you shouldn't get any adverse or stupid comments posted. Dave

Agreed, option 2 seems to be the best option, not perfect, but what is? For me, who is not able to visit (or post, come to that), these forums are a lifeline as you feel as though you are much more involved than you really are. Mike

If the spam persists, I'd go for option 2. Regards, Ian J.
