I've just returned from the excellent Ian Allan trip to California and Arizona. Three airshows, several museums and visits to many airfields (mainly military). Here are a few photos from the start of the trip (more to follow if I don't bore you all!). We started from San Diego and made a brief visit to the San Diego Air & Space Museum Annex at El Cajon airfield. Most interesting exhibit is the sole remaining Douglas A2D-1 Skyshark, an unsuccessful attempt at a replacement for the AD Skyraider: Our first airshow was at the Naval Air Facility at El Centro. A good mix of modern military and warbirds. US Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk in commemorative colurs: Restored Convair PB4Y-2 Privateer: One of the few remaining airworthy Mitsubishi 'Zeroes' an A6M-2: And Korean War adversaries flying together - F-86F Sabre & Mig-15:
