Hi all. Currently in Florida and off to Sun n Fun later in the week.
Re Marana, in 1971 my friend and I wandered up to the main gate, having walked from Marana "town" , and politely asked if we could visit. Tour of field and some hangars was undertaken with stuff stored there then aside from Intermountain Avn - a CIA outfit - with C-46s, assorted DC propliners and a Fairchild built Porter.
Being fairly naive it wasn't till much later that we realised the CIA connection!
It was quite surprising how many places allowed visits, some arranged in advance, and amongst others we visited the C-5 line, Beech Wichita factory, Cessna single factory, Lear factory, and ramp access at a large number of Airfields incl MIA, LGB, TEB, DEN, PHX, and many small fields.
Not much chance now.
