In the name of science, as opposed to gluttony, today I decided to conduct an empirocal experiment at three of the locals - Lasham gliding club, Blackbushe café and Fairoaks café.
At each one, I purchased a bacon & sausage sandwich and a cup of coffee.
Gliding club - cost £4.90 - particularly impressed with the sausage. Nice n herbie. Nice cuppa too. 8/10
Blackbushe -cost £4.90 - particularly impressed with the bacon. Nice n thick. Again, a fine cuppa. 8/10
Fairoaks - cost £4.75 - a good all-rounder. Probably the best cuppa of the three. 8/10
Unfortunately after that lot, my trousers were too tight for me to risk going to Popham. To be honest, I probably would have (popped 'em) had I have done. Boom boom!
Not quite a Which? report, but maybe of interest to some.
However, if anyone knows of a good airfield pharmacy, to cure my indigestion, I would be most appreciative.

Very impressive Andy. I would add that the other day the Blackbushe Cafe was closed, gas escape? Big Al (and equally big Dave) duo are notorious for never passing an opportunity to browse at an airport cafe and at events, are usually to be found with a burger in one hand and notepad in the other. They could probably write the book on airport food!! Hopefully they won't mind me highlighting their gastronomic tendencies, and perhaps fortunately I dont think either of them are on the 'net!!!
Just one other observation, having just returned from Zurich I can add that a bog- standard cup of coffee with milk on the viewing deck there is now SFr 4,60, or about £4.20 on current exchange rates.Needless to say I drank mine very very slowly, before heading back outside into -6 temps (middle of day)

Back in the 1990s when I took it in turns to drive G-BEUK, we always rated Dunkeswell and Wellesbourne as the top Southern airfield cafes. Haven't been to either this century so can't vouch for them now.
Shobdon, White Waltham, and Compton Abbas also rated highly.

Regular visits to the cafe at White Waltham. Former ATC old gits regular get-togethers. Cafe pretty good. £1 cuppa. Booker cafe has been closed down. Nuff said!

As Bob says Wellesbourne takes some beating- (Long may it continue) and there is a nice one at Barton. Blackbushe is very friendly as are the majority of Gliding Centres. Also Kemble, Shobdon and Sleap as well as Hawarden. Bob

Sunday lunch at Lasham followed by a tour of the vintage gliding hangar. Since the Golden Pot (local pub) took on the catering, the quality has improved. On a nice day, get there early as tables get taken quickly.
Redhill is excellent and the loo involves walking through a hangar!
