Germania has signed a firm order with Airbus for 25 A320neos, taking options for an additional 15.
The narrowbodies will be powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines, Airbus confirms.
Berlin-based Germania operates a fleet of 10 A319s and five A321s to destinations in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.
It is also the charter provider for Airbus's twice-daily flights between its production sites in Toulouse and Hamburg.

Germania has defected to Pratt & Whitney for its newly-ordered Airbus A320neo fleet, having been a long-term CFM International customer.
The Berlin-based company operates a mix of CFM56-powered Boeing 737-700s and Airbus A320-family jets.
But while CFM offers the Leap-1A for the A320neo, Germania has opted instead to take the rival Pratt & Whitney PW1100G.
Speaking to FlightGlobal at the Farnborough air show, Germania chief technical officer Thomas Wazinski says the airline chose to switch because it believes the geared-fan technology is the “latest” and has “a lot of room for improvement”.
Airbus is preparing to start equipping some 25 manufactured A320neo airframes with modified PW1100G engines after technical snags held up deliveries.
Wazinski is unconcerned by the early problems with the powerplant, stressing that Germania will not receive its aircraft until 2020.
“It fits our operational performance requirement,” he says, adding that the engine will achieve “reasonable” cost-savings in terms of shop visits in the long term.
“We’re convinced it’s the right decision to select this engine manufacturer,” he says. Germania is taking a total of 25 A320neos.
