Well that is a bit of a blow to our hobby early in 2024- always one of the main visits of the year for myself travelling down from the North- hopefully it will not go ahead. So I will be making every effort to attend this years MTF and hopefully everyone on this site will keep us updated with what is going on. Anyway Happy New Year people- weather up here has not been bad the past couple of days- Manchester is on 05 today but nothing needed due. Happy Days Bob

I sent an e-mail to the councillor concerned and got a very nice reply- apparently it will be discussed publicly between Jan-March and the final decision on locations will be made later in the year. They welcome comments from the aviation community which includes ourselves, so if you want to make your feelings known send an e-mail objecting to Popham becoming a building site. The more the merrier and I live 200 miles away, so you guys in the south should also vent your feelings. Don't start complaining when it is too late. Happy Days Bob

Just a quick reminder from 200 miles away regarding the threat to Popham Airfield becoming a Garden Village and all the aircraft being displaced the closing date for objections is the 4th of March 2024. So if you do want to keep the airfield and visit for the excellent events it holds there please e-mail Local.plan@basingstoke.gov.ukThis is from the consultation websiteVISION FOR POPHAM GARDEN VILLAGEPopham Garden Village will be a healthy and sustainable place with a strong, clearly defined and coherent village character, which maximises the opportunities presented by its attractive rural setting in a sensitive and positive manner. It will create: A place with a strong and clearly defined rural character, utilising high quality characterful architecture, which will create an uplifting environment for residents. High quality facilities and services, providing a supportive and sustainable environment to live, work and play, creating a strong sense of community spirit. An exemplar community that is aspirational and sustainable, combats climate change and supports healthy lifestyles. A place which is inextricably linked with the natural environment, with natural features forming a prominent part of the development and creating a positive relationship with the surrounding landscape. There will be a series of countryside and ecology corridors which contribute to the important wider green infrastructure and biodiversity networks. A place which is highly walkable, with convenient access to local facilities and services within the development to meet the majority of people’s day to day needs, creating a healthy and tranquil living environment for residents. Only take a few minutes to state your objections- if you don't care ignore the above- but if you do care about our hobby have your say. Happy Days Bob

Fully agree Dave, glad you have done the biz- it was in the Flyer Magazine again asking for people flyers spotters etc to put their feelings forward- I know it is an airfield close to your heart with plenty of visits to it- if they get there way with it which airfield will be next. Too may being closed for housing imo. Happy Days Bob
