Evening all,
The exercise behind all of the mil today is 'Faraday Field' and has a NOTAM for rest of week until 12.00 Saturday. 2 771 NAS Sea Kings have been deployed for it. It's around the Thorney Island area, where the Sea Kings are probably based whilst the exercise is taking place. I've had a few mil on my box today, needed all but 2 of them - saw the 2 I didn't need and haven't seen any of the ones I do want!
Regards, Dylan

Evening all, Just a quick update - I've had my box on all day, and here are the choppers which have (presumably) been involved with the exercise today. I'll post these as often as possible, as long as the electric doesn't cut off just as I leave for school!

Spotters collect dots, some collect strobes and others even their noise (presumably a good one when an An-12 or Atlas are flying over above the clouds).
Perhaps a new brand of spotting is required. I've 'virtual radared it'. I'm setting FR24 and Planefinder on minimum zoom. That could be as many as 9,000 aircraft in one hit. Bingo!

Woah, I do dots and strobes, never heard of noise however.
That sounds "unique" mate, however a lot of the spotters on the FR24 forums do it... Lol. Bingo indeed!!

I'm now a dot man, courtesy of the virtual radars. If I can make out the outline of an aircraft at night (e.g. a Farnborough inbound on final approach) I'll count that too. Fortunately, most of the larger bizjets and airliners are lit up like Christmas trees, and quite a bit of the aiframe is usually in light.
