Despite finding a few software reviews online, they're not terribly helpful.
I'm looking for a new application to migrate my existing viewings over, as I've been staying with Spot2Log for too long now, and its online database look-up has recently stopped working. I'm receiving a classic error message 'The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.'
1) It would be good to hear from users of this forum what software they use to log their sightings, with pros and cons mentioned, if possible, please.
2) Has anyone managed to migrate their Spot2Log viewing data, including the Comments? (It's easy enough to do without including the Comments, but there's lots of useful info in those fields.) I'm IT-savvy, so not afraid to attempt database manipulation.
I've evaluated SpottingLog, but its pre-defined locations list is not for me. I would like to be able to add my own locations.
Thanks for your suggestions!

I use Planebase. It was free until a couple of years ago, when they changed their 'business model' and now currently costs £40 per year. That's still good value compared to many of the alternatives.
It has regular updates (usually at least a couple per week) and has significant historical records.
That said, unlike many of its competitors, it's only available to those who are introduced and sponsored by an existing PlaneBase user.

Many thanks, Andy.
Very informative, as always.
I've sent you a PM on this subject.
