When I visited today (18/3), the huge frames of the buildings earmarked for use as sound stages are at a fairly advanced stage of construction, with the canopies complete.
Whilst the use of the buildings as sound stages may be their initial, temporary function, they could conceivably be re-purposed as permanent exhibition halls, in due course.
Given that the permission is until August 2024, that period would cover both the 2022 and 2024 airshows!
In reality, I suspect they might be used for film work in the 18-24 month period between the 2022 and 2024 shows, and for more general exhibition purposes, including the airshow, at other times.
And if anyone had bought a flat on the adjacent housing development hoping for unobscured views of the airfield, the scale of the sheds being built have well and truly scuppered those plans.
