There was a question about the 50th anniversary of Concorde's first flight.
The Chaser went on to suggest the first pilot was Brian Trubshaw.
So who was Andre Turcat - a French imposter?

The Chase have got a few things wrong in the past Andy- including this one- Turcat as you rightly say was the pilot of the first Concorde flight- I believe Trubshaw piloted the round the world tour of Concorde. Also I was at Paris when the Concordski TU144 crashed in 1973- and I believe I maybe wrong that Brian Trubshaw was offered the chance to fly in the TU144 on that fatal day- but declined. Sadly neither Turcat or Trubshaw are no longer with us- having gone to that big airport in the sky- both a big part of aviation history though. Bob

Concorde 001 made its first test flight from Toulouse on 2 March 1969, piloted by André Turcat, and first went supersonic on 1 October. The first UK-built Concorde flew from Filton to RAF Fairford on 9 April 1969, piloted by Brian Trubshaw.
