First aircraft confirmation
Iconic Jump Jet Returns to Air Tattoo
The 2019 Air Tattoo is off to a 'jump-start' thanks to confirmation from the Spanish Navy that their iconic Harrier is to make a very welcome and rare appearance to fly in this summer's airshow!
The EAV-8B Harrier II Plus will be displaying at the Air Tattoo, held over 19-21 July at RAF Fairford. The aircraft, based at Rota Naval Base, are normally found flying from the Spanish Navy's amphibious assault ship, Juan Carlos I.
The Harrier can take off and land vertically, fly backwards, sideways and rotate on the spot; manoeuvres that are sure to impress Air Tattoo visitors! Spanish Navy Harriers, in the form of the earlier AV-8S and TAV-8S variants, were last seen at the Air Tattoo in 1994, with the last Harrier flying display in 2010; the final display season for the RAF's own GR.9 model prior to its retirement in March 2011.
You can see the Harrier flying this summer by booking your Air Tattoo visit today. We look forward to welcoming the Armada Espanola back to RAF Fairford in July.

The Swiss Air Force will be sending an F/A-18C Hornet to fly an energetic display of this Cold War-era fighter for Air Tattoo crowds.
Three squadrons in the Swiss Air Force operate the twin-engined, multi-role Hornet. The aircraft's primary role in Switzerland is air policing. The Swiss are strong supporters of the Air Tattoo, last year sending both the Hornet and PC-7 Display Team to celebrate the Royal Air Force's 100th anniversary.
The Swiss Hornet joins the Spanish Navy's Harrier 'jump jet'as the second confirmed aircraft for the 2019 Air Tattoo.

Guess what? The 'old, faithful' Royal Jordanian Falcons will be attending eith their Extras.
Let's face it, the Air Tattoo wouldn't be the Air Tattoo, if they didn't participate.
Even so, it'd be great if they changed their trusty steeds to F-16s, or summink.
