Cutting-edge British technology 'back in the day'. Perhaps there would still be some takers if it appeared in the trade show.
Sounds a bit far fetched? Just ask the crews of one of the RAF's latest acquisitions, the 1964-vintage RC-135s.

The U.S. Marine Corps on Monday said it would send a pair of Lockheed Martin Corp F-35 fighter jets to two air shows in Britain this summer, a key milestone for the $391 billion weapons program after its thwarted international debut in 2014.
Some U.S. Air Force F-35 jets will also take part in the events, according to sources familiar with the plans. Air Force officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
A fleetwide F-35 grounding ordered after an engine fire in 2014 prevented what would have been the jets' international premiere at the annual Royal International Air Tattoo and an appearance at the world's biggest air show in Farnborough, outside London, both that year.
Since then, an F-35 jet assembled in Italy has made its inaugural flight there, but this year's appearance at RIAT will be the first by the stealthy, supersonic new warplane at an international air show.

Confirmation of participation by the USAF with their F-35As.
The Air Force is taking the future of airpower to international audiences in England this summer.
The 56th Fighter Wing from Luke Air Force Base, Arizona, will send F-35A Lightning IIs to fly in heritage flights and to be on public display at the Royal International Air Tattoo at Royal Air Force Fairford, England, and the Farnborough International Airshow. This will be the first time the Air Force sends an F-35 to an overseas airshow.
"We're very excited about demonstrating this capability to the world," said Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III. "The F-35 represents a new way of thinking about data integration, weapons and tactics. We're thrilled to highlight the program and the amazing Airmen who support this cutting-edge fighter."
The Air Force Heritage Flight program features modern Air Force fighter aircraft flying alongside World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War-era aircraft in a dynamic display of our nation's airpower history.
"Being a part of these heritage flights allows the world to learn more about the F-35 and at the same time see just how far airpower has come over the years," said Brig. Gen. Scott Pleus, the 56th Fighter Wing commander. "The F-35 will be the backbone of the Air Force fighter fleet and represent the future for the U.S., our partners and allies. This will be a great opportunity for everyone to see how amazing the F-35 is."
The Royal International Air Tattoo is scheduled for July 7 through 9, and the Farnborough International Airshow will be July 11 through 17.

CHINA CONFIRMS THE J31 FALCON EAGLE TO FLY AT FARNBOROUGH
The first prototype of Shenyang J-31 Falcon Eagle, China’s second stealth fighter jet, is going to be one of the highlights at the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow.
The new aircraft, that performed its maiden flight on Oct 31, 2012, which is smaller than the J-20, from which it differs for the grey paint job and the presence of a colored emblem on the tails (in place of the typical red star) with the text 鹘鹰, Chinese for “Falcon Eagle”, embeds several features of the F-22 Raptor, and the F-35 Lightning II, respectively the current and future most advanced multi-role jets in the U.S. Air Force inventory: along with the distinctive lines of the Lockheed Martin’s stealth designs, the Chinese jet has a nose section which reminds that of the Joint Strike Fighter, same twin tails and trapezoidal wings.
Still, unlike the F-35, it is equipped with two engines (like the F-22, even though without Thrust Vectoring capability, at least, not yet).
Footage has been seen of the J-31 practicing its demo flight at Zhuhai on Nov. 6. Pretty simple stuff (but let’s not forget it is just a prototype at its first public appearance). Noteworthy, the engines that currently equip the aircraft are a bit smoky: the Chinese jet may evade radars and one day equal F-22 and F-35s but for the moment they can be spotted from far away because of its engines pluming black smoke.

Hi Rob
When I first opened the trade ticket link it went to the FIA news page and I 'lifted' the story. That said, I have since struggled to find the page on the website.
It will be intersting to see if it does reappear or becomes more widely reported. That said, COMAC are bringing the ARJ21, so some other Chinese involvement might be a possibility.
Chinese AF IL76 support would be a nice bonus!
Regards
Andy H

Just checking, the story now appears on a sponsorship brouchure pdf, so whether it was a 'fake' story momentarily published online for inclusion within the brochure, or the 'real deal' remains to be seen.
Fingers crossed, it's the latter.

Sadly the 'official' Farnborough Airshow Twitter site now says:
Contrary to what you might have read the J31 is not confirmed to Fly at #FIA16. We are looking forward to seeing the #F35 though.

Shame as its perfectly plausible because the J-31 has been to Dubai and the Chinese have been talking of coming for some time? Lets hope its just somebody jumping the gun. I notice the show say it is not confirmed, not that is not coming?

John
Cheers for clearing that up. They must have had a right old chortle when they made that one up.
Personally, I'm looking forward to the appearance of the YB-60! I'm bored of B-52s. ;-)
